- Born: May 13, 1952, in Kolkata, West Bengal

- Parents: Late Haji Mohammed Siddique and Late Sufia Begum

- Education: Bachelor of Arts (History) from Aliah University, Kolkata


*Political Career*


- Joined Indian National Congress (INC) in 1970

- Held various party positions:

    - General Secretary, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC)

    - President, West Bengal Congress Minority Cell

- Elected to:

    - West Bengal Legislative Assembly (2001-2006) from Park Circus constituency

    - Lok Sabha (2009-2014) from Kolkata North West constituency

- Switched to Trinamool Congress (TMC) in 2014

- Known for social work, particularly in education and healthcare
